On October 26th 2021, I interviewed a West Virginia woman via phone after learning that she had reportedly had an alien encounter. Through the phone interview, which she allowed me to record, I was able to get details on her supposed experience.
She claimed that one night, in about 2013, she awoke at 4AM in a daze to see two roughly 4ft tall gray aliens standing in her bedroom beside her bed. The taller one was approximately 52 inches (4.3 feet) tall and the shorter one was approximately 46 inches (3.8 feet) tall.
Their skin was gray in coloration. Their eyes were very large. Their heads were bulbous and weirdly shaped with one wrinkle on their foreheads. Their necks were short and skinny and their bodies were slim with long arms and only three thin fingers on each small hand. She commented that they looked exactly like you’d see on television.
The alien beings reportedly placed their hands upon her stomach. She said she was lying on her back at the time.
“It was like as soon as I seen it was there it was like I was in another state of mind or something,” she said, “It was like they were just trying to do something to my stomach.”
Then in an instant they were gone, vanishing completely from the room without explanation. The encounter in total lasted only a matter of minutes. After the beings left, she supposedly still felt a pressure on her stomach. Her husband was reportedly sleeping in the bed beside of her but was not awoken during this experience.
To me, the encounter sounded similar to dreams caused by sleep paralysis. The woman said she didn’t think it was that and insisted that the experience was very real. She said she had never had sleep paralysis before and that she didn’t change anything about her sleep routine that night.
The woman also claimed to have experienced poltergeist activity in her home featuring two little shadow girls (approximately 4 and 6 in age), a disembodied voice saying “mama” and the sound of an old piano playing. She also claimed to see a ghostly woman in an antique wedding dress who appeared in her hallway just before she got married, as well as the silhouette of a levitating man in an overcoat and tall top hat that stood in her doorway as she was trying to sleep.
She didn’t consider her home to be “haunted” and wasn’t really alarmed by the activity, reasoning that spirits are just something that is there and to be left alone as long as they don’t bother you. The apparitions simply appeared and disappeared without relaying any kind of message other than their presence. She said these spiritual experiences were happening many years prior to the supposed alien encounter.
When asked she detailed a few other odd happenings, including seeing what she thought might be a sasquatch in the West Virginia woods while driving at night. She described what she saw as a tall creature that was very wide and larger than a bear, though she didn’t get a very good look at it. The creature was reportedly a dark brown or cinnamon coloration. On another occasion at a lake she heard an odd “whooping” noise, which she thought might be a sasquatch, in response to a dove call she made.
Despite the strangeness of the situation, the reported witness did not consider her alien experience to be a negative or harmful one. When asked she said it was neutral. The experience also did not cause her to be more interested in the topic of anomalous phenomena. She said she had only shared the experience to very few people before.
